What is Global Health?
Learning Objectives
· Explain global health in plain language.
· Recognize how local conditions and cross-border events influence one another.
· Use the Project MAP lens—Mobilize, Assess, Plan—to examine a health issue.
· Identify one responsible action that supports prevention, preparedness, or barrier reduction.
What Global Health Means
Global health is the study and practice of improving health and well-being across communities and countries. It draws on cooperation, prevention, research, public health, health care, policy, and community knowledge. The work is not limited to events “somewhere else.” A local health concern may have regional or worldwide causes, and a worldwide concern may show up differently in each local community.
